Although little is known about the artist, Picon liquors are quite known. The one featured on this tin sign is Amer Picon. It is a bittersweet French aperitif with an orange flavor. It dates back to 1837. It has been used in classic cocktails and was widely available when the first bartending books were written. It is much more difficult to come by now and is not for sale in the United States.
